VIDEO: Alan Menken Takes Us On A Medley Of Broadway Hits During Special Rosie O’Donnell Show Live Stream
On Sunday night, Rosie O’Donnell brought back her old talk show The Rosie O’Donnell Show for a one-night-only livestream to support Broadway stars during the shutdown. All proceeds from the event went to benefit The Actors Fund which supports actors, designers, ushers and others in the entertainment industry impacted by the shutdown.
One of the highlights of the Broadcast was this awesome Medley from iconic Disney composer Alan Menken:
That awesome medley includes: “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid, “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, “Suddenly Seymour” from Little Shop of Horrors, “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas, “King of New York” from Newsies, “Friend Like Me” from Aladdin, “Go the Distance” from Hercules, and many more (he’s got a lot of classics).
Before the performance Menken also gave O’Donnel and update on the Disney’s live-action version of The Little Mermaid. Though (as we reported earlier here at MickeyBlog) production has been suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Menken did say that he and Lin-Manuel Miranda have already recorded the new songs the wrote for the film.
As a special treat, he also announced that he’s currently working on music for Disenchanted the long-awaited sequel to Disney cult-classic Enchanted along with he new’s the Hercules may yet be headed to the great white way!
