Did “Tangled” Predict the Pandemic?
Oh the similarities between Rapunzel’s Tangled and the current global pandemic. The 2010 film featured the Disney princess, Rapunzel, who had been locked in a castle tower by the evil Mother Gothel and not allowed to have any visitors. The opening song shows her desperately trying to fill her time with crafts, games and art (sound familiar?)
Rapunzel, unknowingly of course, has the one thing that can save everyone from the mysterious disease that almost killed her mother. But, there is only a limited supply and Mother Gothel is hiding it from the world. Rapunzel’s magical hair is kept locked away and only used by Mother Gothel.
Rapunzel herself is scared to leave her safe castle because she is told she could die if she leaves (again, any of this sounding familiar). So, fear keeps her separated. Oh, and the name of her kingdom…Corona.
Wait a minute here…In tangled, Rapunzel is trapped in a tower (quarantine) and hidden from the kingdom named Corona… Did anybody else realize this? #Disney #DisTwitter #DisneyPlus pic.twitter.com/TPmY1kPSjt

But, the story of Rapunzel has a happy ending. She leaves her quarantine and although there are many obstacles to overcome she emerges into the sunshine with her parents, prince (well Eugene) and kingdom. So, the lesson here is Rapunzel found her happy ending. We will all, like Rapunzel, finally find the light.
