Ahsoka Tano to be Portrayed By Rosario Dawson In The Mandalorian?
In an exclusive, Peter Sciretta of Slashfilm.com says Rosario Dawson will portray Ahsoka Tano in Season 2 of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
Sciretta, a well-known voice in fan circles, wrote:
We have exclusively learned that Rosario Dawson will appear in The Mandalorian season 2 and are excited to report that she will be playing a fan-favorite character previously only seen in the Star Wars animated productions. Dawson will be playing a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi padawan apprentice who appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. This would be the character’s first appearance in live-action… This is a fan-casting dream come true. In 2017, a fan tweeted at Rosario Dawson, asking her to appear in a Star Wars movie as Ahsoka, and the actress responded, “Ummmm… yes, please?! #AhsokaLives” This tweet spurred groups of fans to campaign for her to play the role. Dawson was later asked about the fan campaign while appearing on Good Morning America, and she commented that “It would be amazing!”
Canon or Legend?
In Star Wars Rebels Ahsoka Tano (as voiced by Ashley Eckstein), said it best, “There’s always a bit of truth in Legends…”
So, here’s my fact-checking on this: I simply opened ABC reporter Clayton Sandell’s Twitter feed.
He posted:
A live-action version of Ahsoka Tano appearing in the second season of The Mandalorian is correct. I'd heard a couple names floated (Dawson was indeed one) but I can't confirm the @slashfilm casting scoop. However, I can say Ahsoka will not be played by Ashley Eckstein.

So there’s that.
Of course, earlier this year, Dawson showed her support for the idea of her playing the former Jedi Padawan.

And, in terms of her portrayal of any further adventures of Ahsoka, Eckstein sounded unsure in a recent interview with SyFy.com.
“Yeah, there’s no point… I honestly don’t know,” said the voice actor when queried about Tano appearing in another animated series. “But I can tell you I would love it if there was. That would be a dream of mine, and Tiya [Sircar] and I have talked about that. We both bug Dave [Filoni] saying that we would love to find where Ahsoka and Sabine are and where Ezra is… maybe we’ll get that series but again, your guess is as good as mine.”
Was she honestly saying, I have no idea what the future holds?
Or was she being coy?
Today, for her part, Eckstein (or at least her company) is mum on the subject, preferring instead to focus on her character’s return to The Clone Wars:

Earlier, I wrote a whole bunch on the return of Ahsoka to The Clone Wars.
