BREAKING NEWS: Disney Wonder Returning To The U.S. Earlier Than Scheduled
The Disney Wonder set sail from New Orleans, LA on Friday March 6th to enjoy a 14-night Panama Canal Cruise. Guests have just received a letter in their staterooms informing them that the ship will be by-passing their final two ports of call of Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas and head directly back to San Diego.
Although the Mexican government is still currently allowing cruise ships to visit these two ports, Disney Cruise Line has been noticing that a number of governments making port closure decisions with very short notice. The decision to modify the itinerary was also made due to an increasing number of tour operators choosing not to operate in these destinations.
The Disney Wonder is now planning on arriving in San Diego on Thursday, March 19th at approximately 7 a.m. (originally scheduled to return on Friday March 20th). Guests may choose to debark the ship on Thursday and end their cruise a day early or they can choose to stay aboard and debark Friday, as originally scheduled. Due to customs regulations and the Disney’s priority of keeping everyone on board healthy, once passengers leave the ship they will not be able to return.
Disney Cruise Line is refunding any port taxes and fees from the missed ports. Also, guests are receiving a 40% discount toward any currently open future sailing, which can be combined with the standard on board offer as long as they take advantage of the on board offer before they disembark. A 10% voyage refund and a refund of gratuities for the final day of the cruise is also being made.
Disney Cruise Line is also opening up the phone service free of charge for any guest who needs to modify their travel arrangements. Also, a complimentary 100 MB internet package is available to each guest to help with making new travel arrangements.
This is the latest in a long line of modifications and cancellations from Disney Cruise Line in order to keep their guests safe, and a priority given to their health. Disney Cruise Line has made the decision to suspend all new departures through and including April 12th in response to the Coronavirus Pandamemic.
