‘Beauty and the Beast’ Prequel In Development Staring Josh Gad and Luke Evans
Variety shared some exciting news earlier today that we here at MickeyBlog couldn’t wait to pass on to you! It looks like Josh Gad and Luke Evans will be reprising their roles from 2017’s live-action Beauty and the Beast in a prequel series created especially for Disney’s new streaming network, Disney Plus.
According to the piece in Variety, Evans will reprise his role as Gaston and Gad as LeFou. As of going to print, the project is untitled and is in early development. it has been suggested that it will be a movie musical like film and that Eddy Kistis and Adam Horowitz have signed on to co-write, serve as showrunners and executive produce on the project.
Horowitz and Kitsis are best known as the creators and showrunners for the popular ABC series “Once Upon a Time,” which featured a wide range of fairy tale and Disney characters, including Belle, Snow White, Captain Hook, Jiminy Cricket, and Prince Charming.
