Double Amputee Crosses the Finish Line at Disney Princess Half Marathon…In 4th Place!
Double Amputee, Marko Cheseto, crossed the finish line at the Disney Princess Half Marathon this past weekend. Crossing the finish line at all was a major accomplishment, but being the fourth runner to finish is simply amazing!
The Orlando-based runner was originally born in Kenya. He moved to the US to run at the University of Alaska. On a run in more than a foot of snow, Cheseto became lost in the woods and when found the frostbite claimed both feet. This did not stop him from being fit for running blades and claiming the double amputee world marathon record of 2:42:24.
“The only disability we have as human beings is the way we think,” Cheseto said after finishing the Disney Princess Half Marathon in 1:17:45 this morning. “But a physical disability that we have does not prevent one from achieving great things in life.” (DisneyParksBlog). Cheseto went on to say that running past park icons like Cinderella’s Castle was just amazing. His next goal is the Boston marathon in April.
