Spaceship Earth Will Close in May for Major Refurbishment – First Details Of What Ride Will Look Like Once Reopen
As we previously reported last year, Spaceship Earth would be closing for a major refurbishment. Since, then we have been waiting for more details on the refurbishment and when the iconic Epcot attraction would close for the overhaul. Today, we have some answers!
Spaceship Earth will close down for it’s refurbishment beginning on May 26, 2020. While a visit to EPCOT isn’t complete without a ride on the attraction, it’s down time will be worth the wait! The next iteration of Spaceship Earth will focus on the story of humanity, following our long journey from prehistoric humans to the present that only Disney can bring us. Yes, many of your favorite scenes you know and love will be updated but its going to bring us all amazing new scenes that will tell a story about our human experience.
Once Spaceship Earth reopens after the refurbishment, you’ll once again visit Egypt. But, it will be an Egypt like you have never seen before, transformed by the power of light. Guests will also be treated to new narration and see how light plays a central role in our shared human journey, coming to life in dynamic ways in a celebration of the magic that’s possible when we all join as one.
As Walt Disney once said, “EPCOT will always be in a state of becoming.” Spaceship Earth has lived up to that vision for several years now. This refurbishment will be the attraction’s fourth and largest since the Park opened on October 1, 1982.
An official “reopening:” date is yet to be announced. However, we are under the impression it will be open by 2021 to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary! Make sure to keep it her with MickeyBlog.com as more details of the Spaceship Earth refurbishment are released.
