What Are The Best Times Of Year To Visit Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa?
When it comes to planning a Disney getaway, most families are well schooled on the best times to visit Walt Disney World and the cheapest way to nab a cruise bargain. However, Aulani, Disney’s stunning Hawaiian resort can be a different kettle of fish entirely! If you’re planning on heading to the Hawaiian Islands for a Disney adventure like no-other than here’s a quick rundown of the best times of year to plan your visit!
Best Times of Year For an Aulani Visit
There’s a lot of overlap here between Aulani and theme park visits! These are the times of year that I like to recommend to my clients for nice temperatures cheaper airfare and lower crowd levels!
- May
- September
- October
Let me stress that there is NO bad time to visit Aulani. With Hawaiian temperatures typically in the 80s all year round there’s not a bad month to visit. However, the months listed above are commonly understood to be off-peak periods when discounts and travel bargains will typically be in your favour.
As a matter of fact and according to Frommers there are three travels season in Hawaii to be aware of.
High Season
Many Disney travellers have a misconception that theme parks and resorts aren’t busy during the Christmas Season and this couldn’t be further from the truth! Mid-December through Mid-April are actually considered the High-Season for Aulani.
As a matter of fact, Peak High Season in Hawaii typically runs from Mid December – Mid April with the last two weeks of December being some of the busiest dates of the year.
Can you go during these dates and still have an amazing time? Absolutely. However, if you are looking for lower crowds and more affordable pricing try some of the off-peak dates instead!
Low Season
For those looking for the best time to visit Hawaii, the low season is typically considered Mid-April through Mid-June then again from September – Early December.
You’ll normally find rates at Aulani a bit more affordable during these times of the year as well as flights.
Summer Season
In Hawaii, there are only two seasons: Summer which runs from April – October and Winter which runs from November – March. However because of the tropical climate, on a beautiful sunny day, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the two with temperatures typically in the upper 70s to 80s all year round!
For families considering going during the Summer months when kids are out of school, we’ve got good news. This “technically” isn’t considered the busy season at Aulani! Though you may not get the bargains found during the low season, crowds aren’t nearly as high as you’d think. Summer isn’t bargain season, nor is it peak season and the temperatures are still manageable.
A Quick Note About Golden Week
If you’ve done any sort of planning for Disney theme parks you know to avoid unexpected busy periods like Grad Nites, Jersey Week or Marathon weekends! At Aulani, Golden Week also falls into the category of unexpected holidays with larger crowds! So what is Golden Week? It’s actually four Japanese national holidays that fall in quick succession at the end of April – Early May each year! This is a premium vacation time for Japanese tourists with work and school holidays. Since Aulani is a popular destination for visitors from Japan, you’ll definitely notice a busier resort during Golden Week!
