Young Girl Beating the Odds Runs Disney Race

This weekend is the Disney Princess Half Marathon event, at the Walt Disney World Resort. This event kicked-off on Friday with the Disney Princess 5K, and continued today with the Disney Princess 10K. The race weekend will end tomorrow with the Disney Princess Half Marathon. A special report from Fox 35 Orlando shares the story of how one brave participant is beating the odds.

Hannah Herman was born with club foot. This condition is a foot malformation, which requires physical therapy and sometimes surgery. Fox 35 Orlando reports that Hannah was abandoned as a baby due to the condition. Her mother Erin Herman adopted Hannah from an orphanage in Kazakhstan, and brought her home. Erin was determined to give Hannah the care she needed to walk. Over the years, her determination paid off!

Beating the Odds
Hannah told Fox 35 Orlando that she felt “powerful and strong,” and that she felt very supported by her mom. Additionally, Hannah shared that her favorite Disney princesses inspire her to achieve her goals. “Princesses like Mulan,” Hannah began, “they overcame every obstacle even though everybody said they couldn’t.” Hannah’s mom was ecstatic after the race, exclaiming “She is so special to us; she is my Disney princess.”
The smile on Hannah’s face as she ran tells an unbelievable story. Hand in hand with her mom, they crossed the finish line together. Hannah finished the Disney Princess 5K, and as a result is taking home a beautiful Moana medal. Her story is an inspiration to many! Watch the video of her victory here.
