Discover the Plant-Based Options at Disney Parks
Disney Parks & Resorts work hard to ensure that all guests who visit have a magical experience. Dining choices play a significant role in this experience for many guests, particularly those with dietary restrictions. The limitations placed on those who follow a vegan or vegetarian diet can present a significant challenge at mealtime. Fortunately, there are hundreds of plant-based options to choose from!
David G. Allan of CNN.com gave his honest opinion on Disney’s options in a recent article, and explores the latest initiative to expand the plant-based menu at Disney parks. He explains that this initiative began at Walt Disney World in the fall of 2019, but is being implemented this spring at Disneyland.
The Green Leaf
At any Disney restaurant, look for the green leaf icon next to certain menu items. This icon indicates that the option is vegan or plant-based, and is far more common than you might think! Magic Kingdom alone offers more than 60 options to choose from, and the other parks and resorts have many as well. From food carts to signature dining restaurants; breakfast, lunch, and dinner options are plentiful.
Plant-Based Options
CNN’s David G. Allan explains in his report that Disney has taken the time and effort to ensure that they are offering creative and thoughtful choices for every palate. A vegetarian for 25 years, he praised the chefs for reaching beyond their comfort zones, and offering more than just “hummus and carrot sticks.” Allan discussed the menu changes with Disney dietary specialist Gary Jones, who shared that the chefs sought to find creative ways to develop flavorful dishes.
Allan’s praise doesn’t stop there; he points out that many of these options are unique to the park and area where they are found. This helps to contribute to the overall guest experience, and may even entice carnivores to sample some of the plant-based options found throughout the Disney World resort.
Disneyland
We can expect to see exciting new menu items at the Disneyland resort this spring, to mirror the changes at Disney World. This will open a world of possibilities to guests on both coasts, and Disney is just getting started. As guests’ needs change, Disney makes a point to change and grow to meet those needs. Be sure to look for new menu options during your next Disney vacation!
