The Mary Kay Company’s, Pink Changing Lives, has donated over $15 million to help change the lives of women and girls all over the world. This year’s first ever Pink Changing Lives honoree is Disney’s very own Monique Coleman (Taylor McKessie) from High School Musical.
According to the Mary Kay website Coleman was chosen for this honor because she”is an advocate for improving the social and economic well-being of young people, most notably being appointed the first United Nations Youth Champion in 2010. As Youth Champion, Coleman raised awareness around the most serious challenges facing young women the world-over, including poverty, domestic violence, sexual assault and lack of educational resources”.
Monique Coleman has been known to support many charities including Thirst Project, She’s The First, Global Kids, Lollipop Theater, Better Youth, WeDay, Playworks, Allstate Foundation, and UN Foundation’s Girl Up Campaign. She also took a tour of 24 countries to “encourage people to act on the most pressing issues of young people today” (marykay.com).
Mary Kay Ash, founder of Mary Kay Inc, has been described as one of the original “glass ceiling breakers”. She founded her company 56 years ago and now has a sales force in 40 different countries. Mary Kay is committed to empowering women and their families by partnering with organizations from around the world, focusing on supporting cancer research, protecting survivors from domestic abuse, beautifying our communities, and encouraging children to follow their dreams (press release MaryKay)
