After the sale, rumors were surfacing in the industry that James Murdoch would be signing on as an exec with Disney. However, that never came to fruition and Murdoch has instead chosen to go a different route – investing in green start-up companies.
It emerged yesterday that Murdoch plans to invest in three climate initiatives, including two that develop non-plastic containers.

One such initiative is with a company called Notpla. The start-up produces packaging that holds everything from water to alcohol and dissolves sort of like Tide Pods.
In addition, Murdoch has also announced plans to invest in another environmental-focused company- Cove which is designing water bottles that are biodegradable.
Murdoch has long had a focus on environmental issues. According to the piece in the DailyMail, back in 2006, he was focused on making Sky carbon neutral and recently criticizing coverage of the Australian Bush Fires.
