Harrison Ford on Han Solo – Before And After
Harry on Han
I’m going to assume two things of you, dear reader, as I type this article.
- You have been on the planet for the last five years or so.
- [Begrudingly] You have seen the entire Star Wars Sequel Trilogy (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker).
If you can’t say yes to the two stipulations above. Move along. Move along.

Still here? Good.
Anyway, it’s common knowledge that Harrison Ford wanted Han Solo dead. He thought he should have died at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. He didn’t really love the character’s job in Return of the Jedi. And believing his character’s worth had played itself out, Harrison didn’t want Han to survive the Original Trilogy.
One wonders if his romantic relationship with Carrie Fisher had anything to do with all of that. And, well, he likes playing Indiana Jones a lot more. But those are stories for another time.
With that in mind, however; I present Harrison Ford on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in 2016.
The legendary actor (and cut up) seems to have softened, though. Perhaps it’s because of his on-screen son, Adam Diver (Ben Solo/Kylo Ren)?
However, it’s a whole lot of fun to see how much, Harrison accepted his character’s ghostly appearance in The Rise of Skywalker.
And we also get the story behind this very 1970’s photo of Mr. Ford and carpenter crew (courtesy of Sergio Mendes).
Before Han Solo, there was a great carpenter named Harrison Ford. He built my studio in 1970…Thanks #HarrisonFord pic.twitter.com/J0dsSRXzfR

Anyway, all of this made me appreciate the actor — AND Han Solo — that much more.
