Disney+ Predicted To Hit 126 Million Subscribers By 2025
Since Disney’s streaming network first launched back in November it has taken the world by storm. Disney+ has gained $28.6 million subscribers since it launched in November and according to a recent study by Digital TV Research it is pegged to hit 126 million subscribers by 2019. Netflix currently the juggernaut is predicted to have 238 million subscribers by the same year.
“Much of this initial growth will come from the U.S., principally due to the attractive bundling of Disney+ with ESPN+ and Hulu,” said Simon Murray, an analyst at Digital TV Research. “ESPN+ and Hulu are not yet available outside the U.S., but we still expect strong Disney+ take-up globally.”
Digital TV Research also projects the Disney+ streaming service will hit 40.7 million subscribers by the end of this year.
By 2025, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and HBO Max are all expected to have gained 529 million subscribers combined.
Disney+ has definitely impressed since its launch on November 12th and was downloaded 3.3 million times to mobile devices and garnered 1.3 million hours of views in the first 24 hours after launch. The streaming network then went on to reach 10 million subscribers in the 24 hours after launch.
The Disney+ success story is partially due to the fact that the Disney has an impressive back catalogue including the Disney Vault, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel libraries. Oh and with the recent acquisition of Fox, Disney has also added to the line-up 30 seasons of The Simpsons. Add to this the fact all Disney/Pixar/Marvel/Star Wars films will become exclusive to Disney+, meaning movies like Aladdin The Lion King, Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame
