Ron Howard Pumps The Breaks On Disney+ Willow Series
Sequel series remains in development…
While fans were VERY excited about the prospect of a return to Nelwyn, Ron Howard said there’s work to be done before Willow’s journey begins anew.
While the prospect of a sequel series to Ron Howard‘s 1988 fantasy feature “Willow” has gotten fans frothing at the mouth, Howard told Variety that Disney Plus still hasn’t made a final decision on the show as of yet.
Reports that Howard was in talks to develop the series with writer Jonathan Kasdan emerged last May, and Howard said that the scripts for the project are pretty much complete, but that a big yes from Disney was yet to come their way.
“We’re working on it, it’s not greenlit, but I was just on the phone today discussing it with Jonathan who has written the scripts,” Howard said. “It’s in serious development, but there’s nothing to announce quite yet.”
That’s frustrating, for sure.
Willow? Where Are You?
Many outlets had recently reported good news about the oft-mentioned sequel series; thanks in great part to the tweet below:

However, the hope remains that Willow Ufgood will return.
Moreover, Collider reported of the would-be series’ setting:
Howard couldn’t offer any more specific details about the potential series, but he did indicate that the show would, in fact, be a sequel. “Warwick Davis is going to be in it and so yes, I think it’s safe to say it’s decades later,” he said.
Here’s hoping that the word “greenlit” is safe to say, soon.
