Mickey and Minnie Debut New Costumes For Lunar New Year Celebrations Around the World

Yesterday marked the official start of Disney’s Lunar New Year Celebrations! To put you in the festive mood and to celebrate the Year of the Mouse, Mickey and Minnie have unveiled some dazzling new outfits! Disney Parks teamed up with award-winning couture designer Guo Pei (in conjunction with the Asian Couture Federation) to create some fabulous new costumes for this iconic duo!

Guo Pei is known throughout the fashion world and has won dozens of awards for her beautiful and intricate designs. Her dresses can be found at fashion shows around the world or at events like the Met Gala in New York City! She is known for conserving the art of traditional Chinese embroidery.

Guo Pei herself revealed these new outfits along with Mickey and Minnie at Disney California Adventure Park on January 17th. Guests visiting the park can see these gorgeous new costumes now through February 9 as Mickey and Minnie celebrate the Lunar New Year at Paradise Gardens Park.

But it’s not just Disneyland Resort where you’ll see these new outfits. Mickey and Minnie also got a makeover at Shanghai Disneyland from Lunar New Year through Lantern Festival (January 25 – February 8.) Mickey and Minnie will also welcome guests in these new outfits in front of a Lunar New Year background on Mickey Avenue.

In addition, you’ll find exclusive merchandise both at California Adventure and Shanghai Disney featuring Guo Pei’s elegant designs! At Disney California Adventure guests can pick up a Lunar New Year red envelope set as well as an exclusive Annual Passholder t-shirt for women. Guests visiting Shanghai Disney Resort can purchase a limited release Mickey and Minnie plush set wearing the new outfits.

You’ll also find a festive limited edition pin at Avenue M Arcade on Mickey Avenue.
