Check Out Some of the Awesome Improvements Coming to Epcot in 2020
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog over the last few months then you know that big changes are coming to Epcot in the years ahead. This beloved Walt Disney World theme park is getting a massive overhaul which will eventually include a full reinvention of most of the key areas of the theme park! The excitement starts in 2020 with some much-anticipated openings and improvements. Let’s take a look:
Attractions
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure- One of the most anticipated attractions at Walt Disney World is opening at Epcot in 2020. This new Ratatouille-themed ride will be opening in the France Pavilion next Summer and will make guests feel like you’ve been shrunken down to the size of a rat as you scurry around behind the scenes of a restaurant. This new addition to the World Showcase is the first Ratatouille attraction at Disney World and is based on a similar popular ride at Disneyland Paris.
Duck Tales- World Showcase Adventure- Epcot is adding a new scavenger hunt featuring Huey, Dewey and Louie that the whole family is sure to love! Using the Play Disney Parks App, guests can follow clues taking you around the World Showcase to aid your feathered friends! This neat new offering will be available beginning on January 17th.
Awesome Planet – This new movie will debut in the Land Pavilion. “Awesome Planet,” is an on-screen exploration of the realm we call home. The film will showcase the spectacular beauty, diversity and dynamic story of our earth with all the grandeur guests have come to expect. As of going to print, the film is expected to open on January 17th.
Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along — Following on the massive success of the Frozen singalong over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this all-new experience will be narrated by Angela Lansbury, the voice of Mrs. Potts, and is helmed by the original film’s producer, Don Hahn. This new production offers a twist on the original Beauty and the Beast animated film with a LeFou narrated story. This production will also kick off on January 17th.
Canada Far and Wide- The CircleVision 360 production at the Canada Pavilion is also getting a bit of an overhaul. Canada Far and Wide will be replacing the long-running O Canada film. The piece will be narrated by Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara from Schitt’s Creek. The production also features a new musical score by Andrew Lockington.
HarmonioUS – Slated to replace Epcot Forever, this new nighttime spectacular will bring Disney characters, special effects, eye-popping fountains, and fireworks to Epcot’s World Showcase. It will celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over, carrying you away harmoniously on a stream of familiar Disney tunes reinterpreted by a diverse group of artists from around the globe. It is expected to begin dazzling guests in mid-2020.
Food
Regal Eagle Smokehouse– This new BBQ -heavy restaurant will be coming to Epcot’s American Adventure pavilion, with delicious offerings like Texas-style brisket sandwiches and Memphis ribs. The Regal Eagle is slated to open in Early 2020.
Space 220-Helmed by the Patina Restaurant Group, this eatery promises to give diners a one-of-a-kind dining experience that is simply out of this world! Located near Mission: SPACE in Future World, guests will feel like you are dining in space complete with panoramic views of earth and a menu that promises to be out of this world. Space 220 is slated to open in Early 2020.
Gelato Stand – Speaking of Patina Restaurant Group, they will also be bringing a new gelato stand to Epcot’s Italy Pavilion in the New Year. According to Disney, the new stand will offer over a dozen varieties of gelato and sorbet. This will include both gluten-friendly and plant-based flavors!
La Crêperie de Paris- Scheduled to be built in an all-new location near Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction, this new crêperie will feature the cuisine of celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse, the mastermind behind the pavilion’s Chefs de France brasserie and its celebration of gourmet cuisine, Monsieur Paul. With a menu inspired by the Brittany region of France, the new location will offer table service dining as well as a quick-service stop for guests craving savory crepes called galettes as well as sweet crepes. The eatery is expected to open in the Summer of 2020.
Special Events
Epcot International Festival of the Arts- The first of Epcot’s four annual festivals, will debut on January 17 and runs through February 24. The fourth-annual festival is a celebration of the visual, performing and culinary arts and includes photo opportunities, workshops, tons of hands-on activities for visitors of all ages and delicious cuisine! Another highlight is the Disney On Broadway Concert Series which brings some of the Broadway’s leading talent to the American Gardens Theatre for nightly concerts that are not-to-be-missed.
Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival – Not just for people with green thumbs, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival kicks off on March 4th and lasts until June 1, 2020. You’ll be dazzled by the incredible topiaries and flower arranges, can take part in awesome workshops and seminars and tap your foot to the nightly Garden Rocks Concert Series.
