Abrams Hints At Character’s Appearance in Star Wars
The entire Star Wars community hung on each of J.J. Abrams’ words throughout the current Star Wars marketing swing. And, even from Japan, those words can turn heads from countries far, far away.
BUT, as per usual lately, possible spoilers ahead.

Still here? Good.
J.J. Abrams teased the appearance of a very special Force wielder.
After a bit of an uneven start in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars cinematic release, Ahsoka Tano has achieved a remarkable place in fans’ hearts. And that love is apparent, even in Japan, where one reporter inadvertently uncovered a small but important detail of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
In a Q & A, J.J. Abrams turned the tables on Japanese-language reporter P.K. Sanjun of SoraNews24.com and asked the journalist a question.
Abrams: By the way, who’s your favorite character?
P.K.: Me? Ahsoka Tano. Sorry for picking someone who only appears in the animated stuff [Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels], but I really like her positive, determined personality.
Abrams: Hmmm, Ahsoka, huh? Well then you’ll probably want to watch closely during The Rise of Skywalker.
P.K.: Wh-whoa-wait-whaaaaaaaaaat?
Abrams: Hahaha, well, enjoy the movie!
Ahsoka Tano: This Is Your Life
In case you don’t know much about Ahsoka, her life is summarized below:
Ahsoka Tano was discovered by Plo Koon at the age of three and accepted into the Jedi Order. When she was 14, Jedi Master Yoda granted Ahsoka the rank of Padawan and apprenticed her to Anakin Skywalker, a powerful if reckless Jedi Knight. Anakin initially bristled at the idea of having an apprentice, and their early interactions were playfully contentious; he called her “Snips” for her witty retorts, and Ahsoka called him “Skyguy.” But their relationship began to grow, and Anakin gained a newfound respect for Ahsoka when she creatively destroyed a Separatist shield generator, saving his life in the process. The Bottom Line
Do I think Ahsoka Tano is in The Rise of Skywalker? Why the heck not!
Just look at the number of ships in this shot from the Resistance armada.
The Star Wars Show said the Colossus from Star Wars Resistance is in there. And, for good or for bad, Ahsoka Tano is FAR MORE POPULAR than anyone from Resistance. And, why would J.J. Abrams — who has chosen to not say anything rather than let any details slip — decided to actually tell an excited reporter that his favorite character would be in the movie. It would be a pretty jerky move to do that as a “Psyche!”
However, if she shows up in person (rather than just her ship — see the top of the page — showing up), Ashley Eckstein better be in costume.
