15 Disney+ Movies That Kids Born in the 90s Are Sure To Love
Children of the 90’s- boy do we have a special seasonal treat for you! Thanks, in part to Good Housekeeping, we’ve got a jovial list of holiday favorites streaming on Disney+ this season that you are sure to love!
We’ve compiled over a dozen films some of which we are sure are old favorites and others which you can fall in love with for the first time. Let’s get started:
Arendelle Castle Yule Log
Yup! It’s a thing! Disney+ actually has a streamable Yule Log coming to you straight from a roaring fireplace at Arendelle Castle. It does exactly what it says on the tin – three hours of a gently crackling fire perfect for having on in the background during your Christmas feast!
Muppets Christmas Carol
If you grew up in the 90s then I’m betting this Muppet film was essential holiday viewing! We are pleased to announce that it’s back on Disney+. This Dickens Christmas Masterpiece is playfully retold with some help from your favorite Muppet friends including Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchett and Michael Cain as the formidable Ebenezer Scrooge.
Miracle on 34th Street
This is one of the films that came as part of Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox and is a welcome holiday treasure! You’re sure to fall in love with this story of the Macy’s Santa Claus skillfully played by Edmund Gwenn and a little girl played by Natalie Wood.
Mickey’s Christmas Carol
Here’s another take on the classic Dickens Christmas story but this time featuring Mickey and friends! Perfect to have one while you wrap presents, this 25-minute version of the tale is absolutely genius. After all, you can’t go wrong with Goofy as Jacob Marley!
Home Alone
If you’re a child of the 90s, then there’s a pretty good chance that you can recite moments of this film verbatim! Join the McCallister family on Disney+ where you’ll not only find the original but also Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Home Alone 3. Also, Disney has also sparked a bit of controversy with the news that they will be working on a reboot of Home Alone for Disney+
Noelle
Confession. This is my new favorite Christmas film EVER! One of the first big, original holiday movies for DIsney+, Noelle centers on Santa’s Children. Nick (Bill Hader) goes missing when he’s supposed to take over as Santa Claus and his sister Noelle (Anna Kendrick) must put things right in order to save Christmas!
The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration
If you missed this Thanksgiving broadcast on ABC, you’re in luck as it’s now available to stream on Disney+. This holiday special gives you front row access to Disneyland and Walt Disney World as performers like Sting, Shaggy, Pentatonix, Ingrid Michaelson, Andy Grammer, Ally Brooke, Emma Bunton, Matthew Morrison and more take to the stage!
Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups
Kitschy? Yes! Awesome? Absolutely! This canine heavy holiday flick is one of many Air Bud spinoffs and combines adorable puppies with Christmas and Santa. What could be better!?
12 Dates of Christmas
Here’s one from the ABC vaults! 12 Dates of Christmas stars Amy Smart and Mark-Paul Gosselaar as a couple who keep reliving their Christmas Eve blind date. Kate (Smart) must figure out how to break the cycle and move on to Christmas morning!
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
This 60-minute special takes us back to the action of the original animated film when Belle was a prisoner in Beast’s castle. However, it tells a slightly different tale of a Christmas Season and traditions that bring the whole castle together!
Snowglobe
Another one from the ABC vaults, Snowglobe stars Christina Milan as a Christmas-loving woman who can magically transport herself into a holiday village located (you guessed it) inside a snowglobe! However, she soon realizes the choices she makes affect the world inside. She must figure out how to balance both worlds.
The Santa Clause
My 9-year old has already found these popular films and is playing them on a constant loop! The original stars Tim Allen as a toy salesman who winds up becoming the next Santa Claus. The network also has The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas
This is another Christmas special featuring Mickey and friends. This 60-minute program provides an anthology of holiday-themed shorts featuring many of your favorite Disney characters.
I”ll Be Home For Christmas
If you used to have pictures of Jonathan Taylor Thomas on your bedroom wall growing up then this is the Christmas special for you! The film centers around an ill-fated trip home for the holidays. JTT plays a self-centered college student who wants to get home to lay claim to his father’s classic car but learns a few very important lessons along the way!
The Nightmare Before Christmas
As popular today as it was when it came out two decades ago, this stop-motion holiday mash-up is a holiday classic! It also features “What’s This?” which has to be one of the best Christmas songs ever!
