Information on Boarding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
The much-anticipated attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Rise of the Resistance, opened yesterday and it has been getting amazing reviews. Of course, it is bringing Guests by the masses in hopes of getting a chance to ride. Because of this, ‘Boarding Groups’ will be in effect most likely for a while for crowd control.
This virtual queue will be required to get on the ride. It will give you time to enjoy the rest of the land while reducing your time in line. Here’s how it all works.
First, you will need to make sure you have the My Disney Experience app downloaded to your smartphone. This is how you will access the virtual queue for the ride.
You will need to arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios very early. Guests have been arriving as early as 4:30am. True dedication! Once you enter the park, open your app and the image below will appear.
If you click on Find Out More, it will take you to the next page that will show what Boarding Groups are available.
If the Join Boarding Group tab is greyed out, there are no more groups and the attraction is full for the day and you will get the message in the image above. If the tab is lit up orange, then tap and join the virtual queue and get assigned to a Boarding Group. The image above also shows if the land is currently open or closed, what Group is boarding at that time, and the estimated time you will board the ride if you were to join at that exact time. You can check the current status of the virtual queue at any time. You do not have to be in the park to see this.
If you have already joined the queue, you can click on My Status to show where you are in the virtual queue.
Make sure push notifications are turned on for My Disney Experience so you will be alerted if your boarding group is called to return or you can keep checking the app. You’ll have up to two hours from the time of the alert to go to the entrance of the attraction. Enter through the “Standby” entrance with approx. 5-20 min wait.
As long as your My Disney Experience account is linked to park tickets for you and the others in your group, you’ll be able to enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time.
Keep in mind, joining a Boarding Group does not guarantee you will get on Rise of the Resistance.
