Your Guide To Rise of the Resistance
Opening Day has arrived! If you plan to head over to Batuu to check out the newest addition to Galaxy’s Edge be sure to read this guide to Rise of the Resistance.
Disney has implemented tools to help reduce your time in line, but there are important steps you must take in order to experience this new attraction.
Keep reading for all the information you need to make your visit to Rise of the Resistance a success!
Download My Disney Experience
The first and one of the most important steps is to make sure you have downloaded the My Disney Experience app. During your Walt Disney World visit you can use the app to schedule FastPasses, dining reservations, and to track your plans.
If you’d like to visit Rise of the Resistance, you’ll need to use this same app to join a “Boarding Group”
Join a Boarding Group
Once you enter the park, open your My Disney Experience app and you’ll see a section populate that says, “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group”. Click the button that says, “Find Out More”.
Next, you will see the option to “Join Boarding Group”. Click here to enroll in the virtual queue.
As long as your My Disney Experience account is linked to your park tickets (and anyone else in your group) you should all be able to join the same boarding group.
*Note: Guests cannot join a boarding group until they are inside the park. The same goes for adding Friends/Family to your group.
Now What?
Once you’ve joined a Boarding Group, make sure your push notifications are on for My Disney Experience. This way, you will be alerted when it’s time to return to the attraction.
Once your Boarding Group is called, you will have up to two hours from the time of the alert to go to the entrance of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Don’t feel like you need to rush!
Once you’ve arrived you can expect to wait and spend some time getting immersed in the story and soaking in the rich details before experiencing the attraction.
*Note: Joining a Boarding Group does not guarantee the ability to experience Rise of the Resistance.

If you’re having trouble with the virtual queue or have any questions the Guest Experience Team is ready and waiting for you throughout the park. Look for the Cast Members in the blue shirts and they’ll help get you back on track!
While you’re waiting your turn be sure you check out everything else there is to do around Hollywood Studios. Stop by Andy’s backyard in Toy Story Land, “drop-in” for a visit at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, or sing along at “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration”.
As guests move through the queue in Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, they see flight suits and other military equipment inside the Resistance encampment. The queue sets the stage for the groundbreaking new attraction, opening Dec. 5, 2019, inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Jan. 17, 2020, at Disneyland Park in California that takes guests into a climactic battle between the Resistance and the First Order.
