Seven Disney Gift Ideas for Black Friday
Black Friday has arrived. On this day, American consumers will spend $6 billion in online sales. Remarkably, it’s not even the best day for retailers. Cyber Monday earned 27 percent more in 2018. In short, you’ll do a lot of shopping over the next few days. And since you’re reading MickeyBlog, odds are pretty good that a lot of it will involve Mickey Mouse and friends. Here are seven of the best Disney gifts this holiday season.
A Floating House Pop!
I don’t know about you, but I no longer have walls in my home. Instead, I have towers of Funko Pop! figurines that have replaced the walls. They may even be load-bearing.
Whenever my wife and I go shopping, we’re coming home with a Pop!. It’s as inevitable as our riding Haunted Mansion when we’re at Magic Kingdom. I have several of these collectibles that I wholeheartedly recommend. However, Box Lunch has built one that I consider the end-all, be-all of Pop! figurines.
The company sells Carl’s house in Up! Yes, you can buy an authentic recreation of the floating balloon house, and, yes, the Pop! includes the balloons! In fact, it comes with Kevin, too! Also, it’s the largest Pop! that we’ve ever owned, as the house is legitimately one foot tall. Up! fans need this.
Socks for Star Wars Fans
My wife one-ups me on a daily, possibly even an hourly basis. Some of her victories are memorably dominant, and one of my dearest anecdotes happened last Christmas. I’ve always felt that socks are the worst imaginable presents. They’re what an aunt or uncle gets you when they never took an interest in your likes or dislikes and only want to spend a few dollars on your present.
Impossibly, some people disagree with this evaluation. They love getting socks, which seems unbelievable to me. My wife falls into this crowd. To cure her of this incorrect opinion, I bought her several sets of Advent Calendar socks last year. What are they? Well, it’s like a regular Advent Calendar, only each date reveals a new pair of socks.
I figured that after getting her like 50 pairs of socks for Christmas, she’d never want another pair. Friends, this strategy has backfired. She loved the idea so much that I’ve had to do it again this year. Yeah, I really outsmarted myself on this one.
The missus still wears many of last year’s socks, though. Star Wars plays heavily in one of the box sets that she likes the best. This limited edition 12 Days of Socks package delivers some unexpectedly playful options like the “I love you.” “I know!” conversation from the original trilogy. And the R2-D2 socks are glorious. The Star Wars fan in your life will love this gift…as long as they’re okay with socks as a present, which literally nobody should be.
A Gift That Combines These Two Ideas
Do you like Funko Pops? Are you a fan of Advent Calendars? This year, you can combine the two gift ideas into one mega-present that will provide joy throughout December.
Marvel has worked with Funko to construct the Funko Advent Calendar: Marvel 80th Anniversary. It’s exactly what it sounds like. For 24 days, you’ll open an Advent Calendar window each day. Inside, you’ll discover a miniature Funko Pop, one with a Marvel theme!
Funko is also selling Fortnite and Harry Potter versions for 2019, but this is a Disney site for Disney fans! We want Marvel Funkos, right?! I bought this gift for my wife this year and gave it to her a bit early. She’s opened five days’ worth thus far, and the Pops are delightfully old school in nature. They celebrate the core Avengers like Thor and Captain America. The cover art suggests that Thanos is in here as well, but we haven’t gotten that far yet.
A Trip to Disneyland
Since I just mentioned Marvel, I feel compelled to add this update for fans of the comic book/movie characters. During the summer of 2020, Disney California Adventure will open Avengers Campus, a new themed land based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Disney has already opened one attraction there, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: BREAKOUT! Next summer, the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB) will open. The highlight of this building is a Spider-Man attraction that Marvel fans will adore.
Look, any self-respecting MCU viewer will want to visit Disneyland next summer. You can win Christmas this year by booking a trip now! Speak with one of the marvelous agents at MickeyTravels to schedule your vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth.
These agents know all about the best ways to spend a few days at Disneyland. Best of all, their services are free to you! And free is always the best price during the holiday season! Something that I really like about this idea is that you’re giving a present right now that will keep your family excited until Avengers Campus arrives in the middle of the year.
Pooh Corner Plushes
When Disney released Christopher Robin last year, the company unveiled a new batch of huggable stuffed animals. This set is different than prior offerings, though.
For whatever reason, the manufacturers emphasized the softness of the plushes. They’re so soft and cuddly that your child won’t want to put them down. In fact, you may want these for yourself.
Disney sells four individual plushes starring characters from Hundred Acre Wood. Eeyore and Piglet cost $8 each, while Tigger and Winnie the Pooh are $15 and $20, respectively. So, you can grab all four for about $50 or pick your favorites if you don’t want/need the full set.
PS: ShopDisney is currently selling a larger Winnie the Pooh plush for $10. I think it’s a Black Friday week sale, so you should act quickly on it. This plush is 12 inches, whereas the softer plush is also smaller at eight inches. So, you get a bigger stuffed animal for half the price.
Frozen 2 Stud Earring Set
Frozen Fever has once again taken hold of movie lovers. We’re willingly in thrall to Anna and Elsa, and that won’t change anytime soon. Presuming that you have a Frozen fan that you love, I have a terrific gift idea, and it’s cheap, too.
Box Lunch is selling an exclusive stud earring set based on Frozen 2. It comes with five different pairs of earrings, my favorite of which are the Olaf ones. However, the Frozen fractal snowflakes are quite beautiful, too. For a modest $17, you can fill up a loved one’s jewelry chest with these Frozen goodies!
Speaking of Jewelry Storage…
I love Pottery Barn so much. Well, I love it right after I’ve moved into a new place. Then, I forget that it exists until the next time I move. Still, the store gets customers like me. It knows that everyone loves Disney, and the obsession starts early.
This year’s Pottery Barn Kids is selling special Princess jewelry boxes. Yes, these storage boxes come with Disney Princesses embossed on the lids. You’ll have your choice of Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, or Sleeping Beauty. You can even get a jewelry box with Anna and Elsa on top. This gift is perfect for anyone seeking to marry their love of accessories with the glory of Disney Princesses.
