Mr Boogedy On Disney+ Developing a Bit Of a Cult Following
Boogedy, Boogedy Boo! I may be in the minority here but I distinctly remember the Disney film Mr. Boogedy from my childhood. This 1986 Disney release tells the tale of a novelty-salesman (Richard Masur) who moves his family (Mimi Kennedy with Benjamin Gregory, David Faustino, and Kristy Swanson) into a new house. Initially dismissing incidents as more of their father’s practical jokes, the family soon learns that the house is haunted by people who lived in the house 300 years previously.
The movie takes its name from Mr Boogedy, a pilgrim haunting the house who made a deal with the devil and is definitely giving off Emperor Palpatine vibes.
This film, which has been locked away in the Disney vaults sparked curiosity when Disney+ advertised it as part of their initial line-up when the streaming service launched earlier this week:

And in classic Twitter fashion before you could say Boogedy Boo! The hashtag #BoogedyChallenge began to trend on Twitter. The idea behind the challenge, like Boogedy himself, is slightly sinister. The goal was for everyone to watch Mr Boogedy to mess with the algorithms of Disney+ programming which execs are no doubt watching closely this week!
Check out some of the tweets here:
If you sub to Disney plus be sure to stream mr.boogedy just to confuse their algorithms #boogedychallenge

We couldn’t agree more with the tweet below! Kidding aside Mr Boogedy is a great (albeit slightly kitschy) watch! However, I recommend parents check it out first before letting kids watch as it can be a bit scary!
i thought the #BoogedyChallenge was a joke but this 45 minute movie is honestly worth it

It’s still early days so we aren’t entirely sure whether the Boogedy Challenge was successful in messing with the Disney+ algorithms but if we suddenly report on a Mr Boogedy remake in the pipeline – you’ll know why!
