Two Disney World Cast Members Named Skippers of the Year

We all love the banter and the Dad jokes that you get every time you hop on board the Jungle Cruise or pay a visit to Skipper Canteen, Jungle Navigation Co. in Adventureland! That’s why we’re so pleased to let you know that according to a recent article that appeared in the Orlando Sentinel, two cast members have just been given the coveted title of “Skippers Of the Year” for 2019!

These lucky skippers will know have the photos incorporated into their attractions as a reward! Jay Friesner (pictured above) took home the title for the Jungle Cruise ride and Richard Reyes for the nearby Skipper Canteen.

“Being a part of the Jungle Cruise, just from being on the boat was a wonderful experience, a lifelong dream. But now I’m actually a part of the attraction itself, and that can’t be beat,” said Friesner, who has worked on the attraction for five years.

“I was completely thrilled to see my face along with Jay’s on the wall, and that I’m a part of the Walt Disney World theming now and forever,” Reyes said (pictured below)

Be on the lookout for the photos during your next visit! You’ll find one just past the mirror near the Skipper Canteen entrance and another in an office scene in the Jungle Cruise (which as we reported earlier this week has changed to the Jingle Cruise for the holidays.)
