NBA Star Robin Lopez Returns Stolen Epcot Items to Disney
In a piece just published by Orlando Sentinel, NBA player Robin Lopez confirmed yesterday that he gave back the clothes from Buzzy, the Walt Disney World animatronic at the center of a theft case against a former Walt Disney World employee.
Lopez unknowingly purchased the stolen goods when a former worker, believed to be Patrick Spikes stole them from the theme park and sold them off to the highest bidder. As we reported earlier, Lopez along with his brother Brook (a fellow Bucks teammate) are in Orlando to meet guests at the NBA Experience today in Walt Disney World.
The items in question are believed to be a costume belonging to Buzzy, a retired Epcot animatronic. Disney had plans to archive the items in Anaheim before they were taken from a storage area at Disney World.
The Orange County Sheriff’s office began releasing details about the case earlier this week including photos of items stolen that appeared on Spikes phone in the hopes that other buyers come forward and return the items taken. A majority of the items in the thef case include costumes and props from Disney’s Haunted Mansion.
This is a case that is developing quickly so readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest news and updates.
