According to a recent permit filed in Orange County, it looks like Disney is ready to start making some big changes to Innoventions East as part of the grand re-imagining of Epcot.
This is based on a recent permit filed with Orange County (you can see the permit here) to begin a project dubbed (rather nondescriptly) “Project G: 202-1.”
How do we know it’s Epcot renovations they’re chatting about? Disney Imagineering has given the title “Project Gamma” to projects directly related to the major changes taking place as part of Epcot’s massive transformation. There aren’t a ton of details available in the filing. However, the news that both Electric Umbrella and MouseGear are slated to close in a few months seems to be in keeping with the filing! This bears a striking resemblance to a permit filed in March which foretold the inevitable closure of Club Cool, Epcot Character Spot and FountainView (Starbucks.)\
If you’ll be paying a visit to Disney in the weeks or months ahead, we recommend a visit to the absolutely stunning (and informative) Epcot Experience which has recently opened at Epcot’s Odyssey Pavilion. This exhibition provides a look into Epcot’s past and well as giving us a glimpse into the theme parks future!
This includes a reimagined Future World with updates to Spaceship Earth, a new space-themed restaurant, a Moana-themed attraction and a state-of-the-art Guardians of the Galaxy indoor coaster.
