Disney Cruise Line Debuts Some of the Awesome Enhancements Coming to the Disney Wonder
You’ll be saying “Laissez les bon temps rouler!” With all of the incredible New Orleans-inspired enhancements coming to the Disney Wonder! The centrepiece of the changes happening throughout the ship is the French Quarter Lounge! Step inside and watch the wonderful world of Princes Tiana come to life with this watering hold transporting guests to the Big Easy’s iconic French Quarter.
Drawing its inspiration from “The Princess and the Frog,” the French Quarter Lounge is the perfect complement to the popular Tiana’s Place Restaurant. Each evening, the French Quarter Lounge will feature live music on the lounge’s gazebo stage. It’s the perfect place for a nightcap as you sip on some of the New Orleans-themed speciality cocktails.
The decor aims to give guests the feeling that you’re in a whimsical outdoor space and features incredible decorative details like a storefront window with a wrought-iron balcony. If you’re fans of the film, you’ll want to be on the lookout for hats on display that are inspired by your favorite characters from the films.
Our favorite detail has to be the full-sized streetcar from the St. Charles line (the same trolley that Tiana rides in the film. ) Authentic wooden bench seating creates a cozy place to sit, listen to music and experience the ambiance.
The bar serves as the focal part of the lounge complete with New Orleans-style wrought-iron adornments and shutters. The bar also displays elements inspired by the popular character, Dr. Facilier. A mural on the wall is painted with Dr. Facilier’s shadow and his business card from the film makes for another cool photo spot! A door in the area is even based on the entrance to Dr. Facilier’s shop, with signage and three flickering “candles” overhead.
And though by night, this is one of Disney Wonder’s biggest hotspots, during the day, the French Quarter Loung will place host to New Orleans-themed family activities, trivia, character meet-and-greets and music.
But the Lounge isn’t the only exciting change coming to the Disney Wonder. Adults will soon be able to enjoy a re-imagined space at the Cove Cafe. Designed as a coffee shop for world travelers you’ll love the new warm, comfortable and trendy decor. It’s the perfect space to enjoy the ocean views while sipping a speciality coffee. Just next door, Signals Bar has also been updated with a similar look.
Last but not least, Vibe the exclusive space on the ship reserved for teens ages 14-17 will be transformed into a fun place to hang out with friends. Decor will have a timeless feel with a bright redesign complete with framed quotes on the walls, metalwork and a light color palette. The space will also feature a new coffee bar and updated virtual reality technology.
Throughout the year the Disney Wonder offers a wide variety of itineraries and ports of call including Alaska, the Mexican Riviera, Caribbean and the Bahamas. For the first time, the Disney Wonder will also call New Orleans home in 2020 with the Caribbean and Bahamian itineraries beginning on February 7th.
