Could Disney Be Setting Its Sights On a Live-Action ‘Brother Bear?’
Here at MickeyBlog, we’ve been sharing reports over the past few months of a slew of live-action remakes that are apparently under consideration by Disney. With the overwhelming success of Disney’s live-action remakes The Lion King and Aladdin its no wonder that the studio is looking at giving the live-action treatment to other successful animated films. According to a recent report in We’ve Got This Covered, sources are reporting that Disney is currently eyeing a revamp of the 2003 animated feature Brother Bear.
This Academy Award-nominated film follows the story of a young Intuit named Kenai. Seeking revenge on a bear that he believes is responsible for his brother’s death, he angers the spirits and is changed into a bear. In order to return to his human form, Kenai is tasked with journeying to a mountain where the Northern lights touch the earth. Along the way, he meets a bear cub who he forms a lasting bond with.
Brother Bear also has a close connection to Hollywood Studios! It was the third and final Disney animated feature produced at the Feature Animation studio at Disney- MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida. The studio shut in 2004 shortly after the film was released
As of going to print, details on the remake are scarce. It seems to be one in a long lost list of films that are reportedly under consideration. With the original cast featuring the voice acting talents of Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix, Rick Moranis, Phil Collins and Tina Turner it will be interesting to see what the cast is like were the film remade!
