Disney Fantasy Alters Itinerary Due to Tropical System in the Caribbean
Guests currently sailing on the Disney Fantasy out of Port Canaveral, FL will sail to the Western Caribbean instead of the Eastern Caribbean as planned. The change in itinerary is due to the formation of the Tropical Storm Dorian in the Caribbean. The Tropical Storm is expected to gain strength and develop into a hurricane over the course of this week.
The Disney Fantasy left from Port Canaveral, FL on its 7-night journey Saturday, August 24. It was supposed to make stops at the Eastern Caribbean islands of Tortola and St. Thomas during the week. Those stops have been changed to George Town, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico in the Western Caribbean. Luckily, the Castaway Cay stop will remain on the itinerary.
This is now the current itinerary for the Disney Fantasy:
- Sunday, August 25: At Sea
- Monday, August 26: At Sea
- Tuesday, August 27: Grand Cayman (All ashore 8:00 am and last tender at 4:30 pm)
- Wednesday, August 28: Cozumel (All ashore 9:30 am and all aboard 6:30 pm)
- Thursday, August 29: At Sea
- Friday, August 30: Disney’s Castaway Cay
- Saturday, August 31: Port Canaveral, FL
Guests who selected port excursions for St. Thomas and Tortola will see those removed from their onboard portfolio. Guests were able to select new port excursions for the new stops in Cozumel and Grand Cayman. The only other change is that Pirate Night has been moved from Tuesday night to Wednesday night.

Understandably, people get nervous about traveling during hurricane season. However, it is very rare that a cruise ship like the Disney Fantasy is directly impacted by a tropical system. Cruise lines do whatever they can to keep itineraries as scheduled but in cases like this, they are able to change things up a little to get all Guests off on their well-deserved vacation.
