Paul Walker Hauser Slated to Join ‘Cruella’ Cast

If there’s one upcoming film that has had us eager with anticipation it is Disney’s live-action “Cruella” featuring Emma Stone in the lead role as the nefarious, fur-wearing super-villain. Today we are excited to share some other exciting casting news on the project. This week the news surfaced that actor Paul Walter Hauser (“I, Tonya,” “BlackKkKlansman”) is in talks to join the film.

Hauser is being considered for the role of Roger in the film which you’ll know as the owner of the dalmatians in Disney’s original animated classic “101 Dalmatians” It’s a good year for the actor as he’s also been booked in the lead and title role for Warner Bros. “Richard Jewell,” based on the story of a security guard who was considered a suspect in the bombing that took place Atlanta’s Centennial Park during the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Though little has been revealed about “Cruella,” various inside sources have reported that filming on the project is slated to start in September with “I, Tonya” director Craig Gillespie to direct. The most recent draft of the script was created by Tonny McNamara with the film being produced by Marc Platt and Andrew Gunn. Disney is pushing toward a release date of December 23, 2020.

It is suggested that “Cruella” will serve as a sort of prequel to “101 Dalmations” focusing on a young Cruella before she turned to her wicked ways which would seem to be a formula similar to Disney’s popular “Maleficent” film.
