Could Kevin Smith Be Working On A “Bedknobs And Broomsticks” Remake?

Over the past month here at MickeyBlog, we’ve hinted that several Disney remakes including “Hercules”, “Pinocchio” and more. However, here’s one we weren’t expecting. According to a recent piece on ComicBook.com director Kevin Smith has been hinting for a while that he has a massive project in the works.

For those following along with Smith’s films, he said this is in addition to the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot which is in the works. Smith has hinted that he has another film that will be announced in August which just happens to coincide with the D23 Expo. Fans of Smith believe that this secret project is actually a remake of the Disney musical classic Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

This much-loved musical fantasy was put out by Disney in 1971. The film went on to star Angela Lansbury and David Tomlinson and told the story of three children (Charlie, Carrie and Paul) who were evacuated from London during the Blitz. They were placed in the care of Miss Eglantine Price who reveals that she’s learning witchcraft. Miss Prince enlists the kids to use an enchanted bed to return to London and retrieve a magic spellbook.

So what does this have to do with Smith? He mentioned back in 2016 during a podcast named Fatman or Batman that he would be excited to be given the chance to remake the Disney classic.

With Disney’s current penchant for remaking films, it might be that Smith has finally been given the opportunity. This is yet another story that we’ll be watching closely when D23 Expo kicks off August 23 – 25, 2019.
