Fascinating Details About Disney’s Riviera Resort
in December of this year, Walt Disney World’s newest Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, will open its doors for its first guests. The new Resort is inspired by the European Riviera – a favorite destination for Walt and Lilian Disney that attracts Guests to relax, rejuvenate, and play along the Mediterranean.
At Disney’s Riviera Resort, Guests will see how Imagineers have created a Resort that fully-resembles the same elegance of a modern European retreat with a touch of old-world glamour, and of course, a Disney twist. Check out the details and careful planning that have gone into bringing this Resort to life.
As mentioned, Disney’s Riviera Resort is inspired by the early 20th century hotels located along Europe’s Mediterranean coast. Just like the coast, the Resort will convey classic European elegance mixed with modern expressions.
Guests will delight in the Resort’s articulated stone base and smooth stucco facades that are accented with decorative metalwork and colorful awnings. Guests will also see French-style roofs mixed in with Italian-style arches along with other architectural styles from the European coastal region.
The main, central tower of Disney’s Riviera Resort will offer expressive roofs and ornamental details. Wings of the Resort will be designed as if added progressively to make room for additional travelers. Each wing has also been designed to grow in height from eight to 10 stories that will allow Guests sweeping views from the rooftop, Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera Restaurant.
Various porticos, towers, and terraces as well as a coastal-inspired color palette will give each wing at Disney’s Rivera Resort it’s own look – A nod to the changes in design that influenced regional resorts throughout the century.
Guests will also notice various window designs at Disney’s Riviera Resort. All of the windows will vary in size and shape while the window awnings and shutters will offer different colors and placement. Be on the lookout for decorative railings with a Disney twist!
One of things that I am most excited about for the new Disney’s Riviera Resort is that it will be on the new Disney Skyliner which means you will be a short ride away from Epcot, Hollywood Studios and three other Walt Disney World Resort Hotels.
