Medal of Honor Recipient David Bellavia Recent Honored By Disneyland Resort
The country’s only living Iraqi War Veteran to receive the Medal of Honor- Army Staff Sergeant David Bellavia was recently honored during the daily flag retreat ceremony at Disneyland theme park. The event took place on July 13th. Bellavia received the nation’s highest military award just last month for his heroic deeds.
Immediately following Disneyland’s daily Flag Retreat, Disney Ambassador Rafa Barron presented Bellavia with a certificate proclaiming him as an honorary citizen of Disneyland Resort. In addition, SALUTE (the business employee resource group BERG at Disneyland) was in attendance. They provide veterans with a supportive cast network and resources to transition into civilian life.
Of the Flag Retreat, Bellavia had this to say, “This is a very patriotic ceremony, and I’m impressed with the way the Disneyland Resort has treated me and our veterans who have served in other generations across all branches of the military. This is my first time at Disneyland, and the cast members are very friendly and kind. There are smiles everywhere!”
