All About Disney’s Lions
Hop aboard and set off to another world at Animal Kingdom’s Kilimanjaro Safaris. Here you’ll come face to face with the King (and queens) of the land – Disney’s lions.
Each and every day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, cast members are helping to care for and protect the lions. With the debut of Disney’s live-action version of “The Lion King” just around the corner (July 19th) and The Lion King “Protect the Pride” campaign, there’s no better time to learn a thing or two about Disney’s lions.
Wildlife Crisis
Lions, and other wildlife, have been facing a crisis all across Africa. Over the past 25 years (since the original release of “The Lion King”) Africa has lost about half of its lion population with only 20,000 remaining.
In an attempt to double the number of wild lions by 2050, Disney is supporting the Wildlife Conservation Network’s (WCN) Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) and “Protect the Pride“.
Protect the Pride
If you’d like to help “Protect the Pride” it’s quite simple! Get your family and friends together and head off to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to hop a ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris.
For every guest who visits Disney’s lions on the safari during the opening week of “The Lion King” film (July 19 – 25, 2019), Disney Conservation Fund will donate $2 (up to $350,000) to WCN’S LRF.
