If, like the writers here at MickeyBlog, you love trying out all of the incredible eateries in Epcot’s World Showcase then we have some very special news for you! Takumi-Tei, the newest restaurant at the Japan Pavilion is now officially open! This signature dining restaurant promises an upscale dining experience with exceptional and specialized service.
From the moment you walk through the door, the entire Takumi-Tei experience is designed to provide diners with a better understanding of Japanese culture as explained by the Japanese cultural representatives. This immersion really gives guests the feeling that you’ve been transported to the island nation.
Add to this an incredible prix fixe multi-course tasting menu as well as a chef’s table dining experience and you’ve got a recipe for success! Menu highlights include wagyu beef in a sublime setting along with sushi, sashimi, unique desserts, sake, signature cocktails and more!
Appetizers
Start your meal off with incredible dishes like Teien which features compressed watermelon and tuna sashimi. Other highlights include Nikomi Wagyu (braised wagyu short rib with roasted bone marrow) or Hama no Kani (‘Crab on the Beach’ featuring crab tossed in a ponzu sauce.) Vegetarians will delight in the Agedashi Tofu with fried silken tofu, brown butter black rice and shimeji mushroom.
Entrees
For the main course, you’ll find incredible options including Kamu Rosu which features roasted marinated duck with kabocha squash, edamame beans, Japanese mizuna, cured duck egg yolk and a grape reduction. Another highlight is Takumi Gyuniku. This artisan beef dish features an A-5 wagyu beef tenderloin with leek sauce, warishita, short rib gyoza, roast cippolini onion, curried potato and seasonal mushroom.
Sushi and Sashimi
Sushi and sashimi fans are sure to be impressed with the delicious options on offer. On the Maki-Sushi menu, you’ll find Mozaiku which features tuna, yellowtail and asparagus. Another recommendation is the Temari Sushi which features a chef-selected assortment of oceanic delicacies. For those preferring sashimi, there’s an incredible Takumi Sashimi entree that features tuna, toro, salmon, yellowtail, uni and ikura.
Dessert
You’ll definitely want to save room for dessert. Two top selections include Kumo (yuzu cheesecake, spiced kabocha, orange yuzu gel and blackberry sake) or the Suiren Dani (Water Lilly Valley which features Japanese water cake, rose, kuromitsu and kinako crumb.)
Drinks
Last, but not least, you’ll find an extensive beverage menu featuring premium sake, wine, beer and cocktails. The speciality cocktails are themed to each of the five dining rooms in the restaurant. This includes Kochi which is a wonderful combination of Joto Yuzu citrus sake, rum, fresh mint, yuzu juice and orange. Another must-try libation is the Raju which is made up of Haku Japanese vodka, spiced ginger beer and lime.
