Disney Shares Details of Upcoming Animated Film ‘Onward’ Featuring Chris Pratt, Tom Holland and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elves
Though most of the attention as we enter the Summer is focused on films like The Lion King and Toy Story 4, Pixar released details regarding it’s latest film Onward which is being slated for a 2020 release! The film will include the vocal talents of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt who play two elf brothers living in the suburbs who head out on a quest to see if there’s any magic left in the world.
Here’s a look at the official synopsis;
“In Disney and Pixar’s “Onward,” two teenage elf brothers embark on an extraordinary quest in a van named Guinevere to discover if there is still a little magic left in the world. Featuring Tom Holland as the voice of Ian Lightfoot, and Chris Pratt as the voice of Ian’s older brother, Barley.”
VEEP star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is also on board with the project and will be playing the role of the teen’s mom in the film as well as Octavia Spencer.
Director Dan Scanlon (who also directed Monster’s University) had this to say of the casting, “Tom Holland is perfect for our character of Ian, the younger brother. We were looking for someone who could have this shy quality and someone who is good at being a little awkward. And Tom is great at that! And yet has a genuine sweetness to him that you really root for him.”
In a recent interview with People Magazine Scanlon added, for Pratt’s character, “We wanted someone who was the exact opposite of that (Ian).) Someone who could be wild and chaotic and out of control, but in a very charming and infectious way. And Chris Pratt is perfect for that”
Scanlon promises Onward will bring the laughs, too, but like other Pixar films will also have an emotional impact. “I absolutely hope that people are laughing their heads off and crying their eyes out,” he says. “My hope is some of the questions that I’m asking in the film will be questions other people are asking about their own lives. And I think that’s what a lot of the times gets us to connect to a movie.”
As of going to print, this Pixar film is slated for a March 2020 release. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest Disney movie news and updates! For the original article from People click here.
