We’ve Got the First Details of the Animated Shorts Coming To Disney+ In 2020
Here at MickeyBlog, we can barely contain our excitement for the Disney+ Streaming Service set to debut later this year. Seemingly every day Disney is releasing exciting details about the amazing programming you’ll find on Disney+. Just last week we shared the exciting details of a new original film starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee! This week we’re excited to share news from Walt Disney Animation Studios about the brand new animated shorts that will be released on Disney+ starting in the spring of 2020.
The shorts are a part of Short Circuit. During this program, anyone at the Walt Disney Animation Studio can pitch an idea and potentially be selected to create an original short film with the support of the studio and fellow artists! Let’s take a look at the first three shorts on offer.
Jing Hua (Flower in the Mirror)
The first short we are excited to tell you about comes from director Jerry Huynh, a technical director at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He’s worked on some of our favorite films like Moana and Ralph Breaks the Internet, so we are beyond excited for his short Jing Hua which will definitely bring something magical to Disney+!
Just a Thought
Just a Thought is a short inspired by the awkward pre-teen years we all went through. It’s also a tribute to the newspaper comics that director Brian Menz grew up loving. With his resume including work on Disney favorites like Bolt, Big Hero 6, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Zootopia, Moana, and Ralph Breaks the Internet, we’re certain his short is going to be an absolute must-see!
Exchange Student
Natalie Nourigat also worked on the much-loved Disney film, Ralph Breaks the Internet. In addition, she launched her professional career drawing comics. We’re hoping to see some of Natalie’s love of comics in the art style of her new short titled Exchange Student.
These short films are just a few of the many reasons to be excited about Disney’s new streaming service. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest DIsney+ news and updates include other awesome projects like the new Star Wars series The Mandalorian as well as the Monster’s Inc- inspired series Monsters at Work.
