Virtual Queue System Will Be Enacted to Enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland
Guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland from its opening date on May 31 to June 23 will be required to have a reservation to enter. However, there has been much speculation about how crowds will be handled once the reservation period has ended. Thanks to the OC Register, we have that answer. A virtual queue system will be utilized for Guests to receive a Boarding Pass to the new Land when it reaches capacity.
First off, it is important to note that the virtual queue system will be used to just enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. Once inside the Land, you will still have to wait to ride the attractions.
For a guest to get their spot in the virtual queue and receive a Boarding Pass, they will have to access it through the Disneyland app when they are physically inside Disneyland Park. Then, when it is a Guest’s time to enter the Land, they will receive a push notification on their phone through the app. (If a Guest does not have a smartphone, several kiosks will be set up around the Park to get a paper virtual queue reservation with a time to enter the land.)
Disney hopes this will give Guests the opportunity to explore the rest of the Park without having to wait to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.
There is also the chance that Guests will not need a spot in the virtual queue to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland – especially for Guests at the park super early in the morning and late at night. A status bar will be displayed on the Disneyland app when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is at capacity and boarding pass or a spot in the virtual queue is required.
The virtual queue system is expected to be in place until crowds die down in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.
As mentioned, reservations will be required to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland until June 23. Reservations for the general public are no longer available but you can lock one in if you make a reservation at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels.
