Get a Look at the Progress of Magic Kingdom’s Tron Coaster
In case you haven’t heard, Tomorrowland at Disney’s Magic Kindom will be getting a brand new indoor coaster slated to open in 2021. The Tron attraction draws its inspiration from the popular TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland!
The coaster-style attraction will allow riders to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a race through the digital frontier! The attraction is currently under construction in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom just north of Space Mountain.
During a recent visit to Walt Disney World, we were able to capture some photos of the construction site!
Here you can see some of the black steel structures going up to support the ride. You’ll notice the Walt Disney World monorail in the background.
This shot taken from slightly further back shows the scale of the project with cranes being erected in the Tomorrowland area of the park.
Though the impact of the construction to theme park visitors is minimal, The Tomorrowland Speedway is currently under refurbishment until Miday-May as the track needs to be adjusted to accommodate the new Tron coaster. In addition, and for the same reason, the Walt Disney World Railroad is not currently making the rounds. Rather guests can view the train at the Main Street Station where it will be stationed until track adjustments are made!
