New Details About Space Themed Restaurant Coming to Epcot
At Epcot in Walt Disney World, you can already travel to Space when you ride Mission: Space. But starting near the end of 2019, you will also be able to dine in space when Epcot’s New Space Restaurant opens! Today, we are learning several new details about the much-anticipated restaurant.
Patina Restaurant Group will operate the new restaurant, and they’ve developed a menu that features internationally-inspired cuisine, more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer.
Epcot’s New Space Restaurant will be called “Space 220” and will be located at between the Mission: Space and Test Track attractions. Guests will dine in a 350 seat spaceship themed-dining room featuring simulated views into space. When guests enter the restaurant, that will hop on one of the two elevators to bring them up to the main dining room.
The elevators will be an experience in themselves! Each will feature large digital screens, similar to those used by tourists to access the viewing platforms at One World Trade Center in New York City. Simulations on the digital screens will give each guest the sense that they are actually traveling to the International Space Station.
Once you exit the elevators, you will then enter Epcot’s New Space Restaurant which will be connected to the rear of the existing Hewlett Packard Lounge that has been closed for several years. The dining room boasts a 250-foot-long digital screen that flanks the back of the curved room.
