7 Reasons Why We’re Already Excited For Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays
It may only be April but that won’t stop us from already being excited for another fun and festive holiday season at Walt Disney World. Disney announced this week that the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays will be back for another fantastic Christmas celebration in 2019! There’s nothing like a destination Christmas to Walt Disney World and to put you in the mood here are 7 reasons why this year’s Festival of the Holiday celebration is not-to-be-missed!
1. One Month of Yuletide Fun
This year’s Epcot International Festival of the Holidays will be running from November 29th through December 30th meaning a whole month of Christmas festivities!
2. Holidays Around the World
One of the things that makes the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays so special is the opportunity for visitors to experience the holiday traditions of the 11 countries that make up the World Showcase. You’ll find everything from a Mariachi Band and storytellers at the Mexican Pavilion to a mischevious Christmas gnome in Norway. Its a fun-filled education experience for visitors of all ages!
3. The Chance to Meet Santa & Mrs Claus
No holiday visit to Walt Disney World would be complete without sharing your Christmas list with the man in red! One of my favorite holiday meet and greets definitely has to be at the American Pavilion during the Festival of the Holidays where you’ll have an opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs Claus! A PhotoPass photographer is also on hand to capture the magic!
4. Candlelight Processional
One of the highlights of a Christmas visit to Walt Disney World is the opportunity to attend one of Epcot’s amazing Candlelight Processional performances. This re-telling of the story of the first Christmas features a celebrity narrator, 50-piece orchestra and full choir. Performances are typically held three times daily at the American Pavilion.
5. Holiday Kitchens
Like any Epcot festival, a highlight of Festival of the Holidays is definitely the incredible Holiday Kitchens you’ll find around the World Showcase. At each market stall, you’ll find an eclectic array of holiday goodies from Christmas cookies and Eggnog to a traditional turkey dinner with all of the trimmings!
6. JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season
During the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays, the fun isn’t limited to the World Showcase. Head over to Future World to experience Joyful! A Celebration of the Season. This amazing concert celebrates both Christmas and Kwanzaa with uplifting Gospel, R & B, and holiday songs. This incredible vocal ensemble will have you tapping your toes and clapping your hands. Performances happen throughout the day at the Fountain Stage.
7. Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree
This is an awesome event for the whole family to enjoy. Chip & Dale are on a scavenger hunt collecting ornaments for their Christmas tree and enlist you to help them. Purchase a map at one of the designated festival locations and as you travel around the World Showcase you can search for the designated ornaments. When the scavenger hunt is complete you can turn it in for a special surprise!
