Data Breach at Earl of Sandwich, Chicken Guy! and Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs
According to a recent press release by Earl Enterprises, three popular Disney Springs Restaurants have been affected by a data breach that compromised payment card information at a handful of their restaurants including Earl of Sandwich, Chicken Guy! and Planet Hollywood at Walt Disney World Resort.
The report alleges that unauthorized individuals installed malicious software on some point of sale systems at the restaurants listed above. The software was designed to capture payment card data at infected locations between May 23 and March 18, 2019. This breach would affect in-store purchases only and not online orders or those paid for online through third-party applications or platforms.
Earl Enterprises went on to add that the incident has been contained and that they are working with experts to monitor the situation closely.
So What Can You Do If You Think You’ve Been Impacted?
It is advised that anyone that used credit cards at the Disney Springs restaurants above form March of last year to March of this year should carefully review credit or debit card statements to be on the lookout for suspicious charges. If you see anything you do not recognize it is advised that you immediately notify your bank and report the fraud. Cardholders are not typically responsible for fraudulent activity provided it is reported in a timely fashion.
Earl Enterprises has also set up a dedicated call center for those wanting further information or assistance. You can right them at 1.888.437.2399. They are open from 9 am – 9pm Monday through Friday.
