6 Reasons Why We Love Grizzly Peak at Disney California Adventure
When it comes to paying a visit to Disney California Adventure, Hollywood Land with all its Marvel heroes and Cars Land tend to be the primary areas of focus. However, here at MickeyBlog one of our favorite places to hang out at the park is Grizzly Peak! From the 110ft. Grizzly Peak towering over the theme park to some of Disneyland Resort’s most awesome attractions, there’s a lot to love about this area of the park. To give you a taste here are six reasons why we love spending time here.
1. Grizzly River Run
Cool off in the Anaheim heat with the 8 person raft ride which meanders along a lazy river before rumbling off the top of a mountain and plunging down a wild river. This white water rapids ride has it all from ragging currents, craggy mountain caverns, bedrock slopes and geysers. However a quick note for all of your intrepid adventurers, you will get wet on this attraction. With that in mind, lockers are located in the vicinity to stow your belongings. You may also want to bring a waterproof poncho or a towel to dry off when you’re finished!
2. Direct Acces To Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
When it comes to comfort and convenience, nothing is as magical as staying at Disney’s Grand Californian and using the hotel entrance to go directly into the theme park. This special gate is for the exclusive use of Disneyland Resort guests and takes you right into the middle action (near Soarin’ and Grizzly River Run.) With such quick access to your resort, guests have the luxury of being able to pop back to your room for a quick afternoon nap, a dip in the pool or some amazing dining at Storytellers’ Cafe.
3. Character Meet and Greets
Next time you are exploring the Grizzly Peak Airfield, make sure to stop by and visit Pluto. You love this aviation-themed photo op. You’ll also find Chip and Dale near the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail waiting to say “Hello!”
4. Soarin’ Around the World
One of Disney California Adventure’s most-popular attractions can be found right in the heart of Grizzly Peak. Soarin’ Around the World whisks guests on a journey above over a dozen destinations spanning the globe. You’ll take in the sights, sounds and smells of incredible landmarks like the Great Wall of China, Sydney Harbour and the Matterhorn in Switzerland! FASTPASSES are available for this attraction!
5. Smokejumpers Grill
The Smokejumpers Grill is one of our favorite go-to spots for a quick service bite. Not only do crowds tend to be a bit smaller here than in other sections of the park but they are also known for tasty menu items. Some of the highlights include spicy buffalo chicken sandwich, vegetarian BBQ jackfruit sandwich, grilled chicken salad, cobbler shake and even a s’more! For junior smokejumpers, options include chicken tenders, grilled cheese and a chicken skewer. Also, save room for dessert as there is also a churro cart in the area serving up one of Disneyland Resorts most iconic treats.
6. Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Head over to Redwood Creek Challenge Trail to earn your Wilderness Explorer badges. Here you can head off into the woods, for a variety of fun hands-on activities. Kids can also practice the art of traverse climbing at the Cliff Hanger Traverse Rock Climb. You can clamber up the ropes for amazing treetop views or glide down the natural rock slide. The tire swing at Sequoia Smokejumpers Training Tower is also a hit with kids. Families can also head into the Spirit Cave to connect with your mystical spirit animals.
These are just a few of the reasons why we love Grizzly Peak and are sure you will too! Be sure to keep following along with MIckeyBlog for the latest Disneyland news and updates.
