8 Reasons Why We Love Coronado Springs Resort
For those looking for a Walt Disney World resort with awesome amenities without the hefty price tag, Disney’s Coronado Springs should definitely be in the running. This awesome moderate property has a lot going for it and has recently received a massive makeover taking it from strength to strength. As a matter of fact, we think there’s so much to love about this often overlooked property that we’ve compiled a list of eight reasons why Coronado Springs is one of our favorite places to stay!
1. Coming Soon: Gran Destino Tower
If you want the feeling of staying in a brand new property consider booking a stay in Coronado Springs’ Gran Destino Tower! This brand new section of Coronado Springs Resort will officially open its doors to guests in July 2019 but you can book your reservations now. This 15-story building will serve as the centerpiece of Coronado Springs. It will function as the main entrance for guests and adds a whopping 545 guest rooms to Coronado. Highlights will include a two-story lobby, Spanish decor, and stunning views of Walt Disney World Resort. It is guaranteed that Gran Destino will be nothing short of breathtaking!
2. Coming Soon – Toledo- Tapas, Steak & Seafood
Reservations are now open for this brand new restaurant housed on the top floor of the Grand Destino Tower. This restaurant will bring Deluxe Resort dining to a Moderate Resort. The menu will feature dishes and small plates inspired by the flavors of Spain. Guests will also get to enjoy a surrealistic rooftop dining experience with stunning views. Menu highlights include Jamon Serrano with compressed melon, Savory Churros, Hanger Steak with Crushed new potatoes and 100% sustainable seafood. Reservations are currently available from July onward and can be made via My Disney Experience or by calling 407.WDW.DINE.
3. Club Level Accommodation at a Moderate Resort
When Gran Destino Tower opens in July it will be the first of its kind in bringing Club Level accommodation to one of Disney’s Moderate properties. Guests staying in a Club-access room will enjoy personalized vacation planning services as well as access to The Chronos Club. This Club Level lounge will be the perfect place to rest, relax and enjoy light refreshments during your stay!
4. Dig Site Pool
Even prior to Disney’s massive renovation of Coronado Springs this incredible pool area was reason enough to make this one of my family’s go-to Moderate Resorts. Tucked away from the guest rooms, the Dig Site Pool is a quiet oasis with a giant Mayan Pyramid as it’s centerpiece. The pool boasts a 125 ft spitting Jaguar Slide that weaves its way around the pyramid. Guests will also find here a fantastic pool bar serving libations, soft drinks and tasty snacks. It’s also home to a massive hot tub which can hold up to 22 people, a beach volleyball court, a video arcade, kiddie pool and themed dig site!
5. Remodeled Rooms
As part of Coronado Springs’ massive renovations, all of the guest rooms have been updated. They now feature hard flooring, modern furnishings, coffee makers, re-imagined bathrooms and shower areas and more! All of the resorts 1.800+ guest rooms feature new fixtures, furnishings and lighting which really adds to that feeling of getting deluxe accommodation for moderate pricing!
6. La Vida Health Club
You don’t have to head to a Deluxe Resort to enjoy a spa day! At Coronado Springs you’ll find La Vida Health Club. This fitness center/spa features state-of-the-art Life Fitness machines, treadmills, bicycles, elliptical machines and more. Or you may prefer to melt your cares away with a luxurious massage or facial designed to rejuvenate. La Vida also offers a full range of salon services from manicures and pedicures to hair styling! Appointments can be made by calling 407.WDW.SPAS
7. Incredible Dining Options
We mentioned Toledo Tapas above but there are also a wide range of other dining options at Coronado Springs that are worthy of note! First, let’s talk about what’s coming to Coronado this Summer – waterfront dining! Coronado Springs is situated around the giant Lago Dorado. As part of the property’s ongoing renovations, Disney is looking to maximize this lakefront space. This new over the water eatery will offer sandwiches, shared plates, salads and more! In addition, there is a wide range of other dining options available from Maya Grill, a table service restaurant offering Tex-Mex cuisine to the colorful El Mercado Coronado, a food court offering 7 stations of Mexican and American cuisine. There’s also Rix Sports Bar & Grill which is the perfect place to catch the game will enjoying tasty drinks, appetizers and light entrees. Coronado Springs also offers morning and evening room service!
8. Cost
That leaves us with one of our favorite things about Coronado Springs – the cost! Guests can enjoy all of the incredible amenities we listed above with moderate pricing. As a moderate resort, rooms typically start in the $250 range going up to $300 for those looking to stay in the new Gran Destino Tower. This still comes in lower than any of the Deluxe Resorts on property. When it comes to bagging a bargain, Coronado Springs is almost always included in Disney discount offers like Free Dining, Play Stay and Dine or resort discounts. This means that in addition to all of the fantastic offerings above you may also get to enjoy some awesome savings!
