What Disney World Resorts Are Commonly Excluded From Discounts?
In case you haven’t heard, one of the most awesome perks when it comes to booking your Disney vacation with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner (like MickeyTravels), is the ability to apply discounts to your package even after you’ve booked. I’ve currently had lots of inquiries for those looking to visit Walt Disney World in Late 2019 or Early 2020 and wanting to get the best discounts. Though Disney discounts are constantly changing and there is no guarantee that discounts will be offered at your resort/during your travel dates, we do see a trend when it comes to resorts excluded from discount offers.
Let’s take a look:
If we look at Disney’s Summer 2019 Free Dining Promotion, the following properties were excluded from the discounts. This provides us with a good indication of possible exclusions with future Disney promotions:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Little Mermaid Room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter
- Cabins and Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
- Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Cabins at Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows
- Three Bedroom Villas at any of Disney’s Deluxe Villa Resorts
However, fans should note that there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to resorts included in discount offers. For instance, Disney’s current Fun & Sun promotion INCLUDES discounts at many of the resorts listed above including: All Star Movies, Fort Wilderness, Port Orleans Riverside and Art of Animation. When Disney runs a discount it is to put heads on the beds of emptier resort rooms. If a property is consistently popular among visitors, Disney is less likely to offer discounts. That’s why we may see exclusions change again with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge and the advent of Disney’s Skyliner system.
Are there resorts that are a safe bet when it comes to discounts?
As I mentioned above, there’s no guarantee that resorts will be included in upcoming discounts or promotions. However, here are some of my top picks in each category for those looking for a bargain:
Value Resorts:
- Disney’s All Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All Star Sports Resort
- Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
Moderate Resorts:
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Coronado Spring Resort
Deluxe Resorts:
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Disney’s Boardwalk Inn
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Yacht Club
Deluxe Villa Resorts
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge- Kidani Village
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
What if I book a resort, a discount comes out and my resort isn’t included?
There are a few things you can do as Disney is pretty flexible when it comes to making adjustments to your Walt Disney World vacation package. If Disney releases a discount and the current property that you have booked is exempt, you can always ask to move to a different resort. If there’s availability Disney can move you. In most instances, you’ll keep your same reservation number and your deposit will roll over to your new property. If upgrading to a more expensive property guest should expect that the cost of your Walt Disney World vacation package may go up.
In the unlikely event that you do not get the discount you like, guests also have the ability to cancel your package for a full refund right up until 30 days before your vacation. Should you find that your booking falls into a discount blackout date you also have the option of changing your dates to dates that would be covered under a discount.
A great way to manage the ins and outs of discounts is to work with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner like MickeyTravels. Whether you’re looking to book pre-discount or want to nab a current discount we can do the work and help you come up with the best savings!
