Everything You Need To Know About Disney’s Refillable Resort Mugs
One of the perks of Disney World’s Dining Plans are the refillable resort mugs that can be used at your resort during the duration of your stay! Onsite not on the dining plan also have the option of purchasing one of the mugs during your visit! However, finding information in advance on how exactly this system works can be hard to come by. That’s why we here at MickeyBlog thought we’d give you a crash course in the Rapid Fill Refillable Resort Mug basics!
Refillable Resort Mugs 101
The refillable resort mugs are 16 oz insulated plastic mugs. You’ll find them at each of the Food Courts at Walt Disney World resorts. These mugs are special in that each have within them an RFID chip that will activate the drink stations located at your resort. Each mug will hold details on your length of stay and is only valid during the time of your current visit. There is also a 2-minute time limit between refills. Once you have concluded your stay, the mug will de-activate meaning you can’t bring it with you and use it on future visits for FREE.
Where Do I Go to Pick-Up or Purchase My Refillable Resort Mug?
Disney doesn’t typically tell guests where to get the mugs when you check-in which can confuse a lot of first-time visitors. However, simply head to your resort’s Food Court when you’re ready. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan you can pick one out for every member of your travelling party. The lids of the mugs come in several different colors making them easy to tell apart if you have more than one in your room!
What is the Cost Involved to Get a Mug if I’m Not On the Dining Plan?
As of going to print, the cost of Disney’s RapdFill mugs is $18.99 per mug covering you for the entire length of your stay. However, those planning a future visit to Disney World should note that the cost is subject to change!
Is It Only Soft Drinks? Or Are There Other Options For Non-Soda Drinkers?
The Rapid Fill Refillable Resort Much Stations do include a soda station where you’ll find a range of Coca-Cola Products. However, you can also fill your mugs up with coffee, iced tea, and hot chocolate. Water is also available at the stations. Fountains also typically carry a range of options like VitaminWater or Powerade that can be used with the mugs.
Where Can I Go To Refill My Mug?
Your main refilling station will always be at your Food Court. However, be sure to ask when you pick up your mug if there are other refill spots on the premises. Many of the pool bars offer refill stations and some of the larger resorts may have them available at more than one restaurant location.
Can I Get Free Refills at the Theme Parks With My Mug?
Nope. This is a common misconception that many first time visitors have about RapidFill. Though you can certainly carry your mugs into the theme parks with you, the mugs are for resort use only. You cannot, for example, take them to a quick service restaurant and have them refilled.
I’m Going to Be Visiting Another Resort. Can I Use My Refillable Resort Mug There?
Yes. A lot of people don’t realise this but you can take your resort mug to another property and get a free refill. The RapidFill system is a resort only thing which means it works at the hotels by not the theme parks which operate under a different system.
I’ll Be Staying at More Than One Resort. Does That Mean I Need to Purchase Two Mugs?
No. At the time that you pick them up or at the point of purchase you can have the resort mugs programmied for your entire length of stay. Bring them with you when you move and you’ll be able to use them at your next property.
How Do I Keep My Resort Mug Clean?
Next to all of the drink stations where you refill your mug, you’ll also find a mini-sink cleaning station. Here you can rinse up and tidy your mug for the next refill.
I’m Staying in a Villa Can I Put My Mugs in The Dishwasher or Microwave?
I’ve heard various reports that the RFID chip will stay safe even if you’re heating up drinks in the microwave or cleaning them in the dishwasher. However, I would exercise caution.
