Mother Daughter Day on Seven Seas Lagoon at Disney
I’m an only child, and unlike most of my friends whose childhood memories are shaded with sibling rivalries and triumphs at home, my best household buddies were my parents. Don’t throw a pity party in my name though. When I wasn’t testing fate in a poorly-paved alley on a flimsy skateboard with my friends, being best friends with your mom is a pretty great deal!
Weekly shopping jaunts, runs to the grocery store, day-long baking endeavors, and long summer walks are just a few of our favorite mother/daughter activities that we loved when I was growing up. We still do all of them to this day! Thanks to those activities, my mom and I formed a lasting friendship that culminated in our first-ever mother/daughter trip to Walt Disney World last year! So, fellow mother/daughter duos of Disney, here is the perfect way to spend the day on Seven Seas Lagoon with your best friend!
Senses Spa
My mom and I like to be on the move, and scheduling a spa treatment was never a consideration for our girls-only trip (I’m still hoping my Dad wasn’t too upset we didn’t invite him). We wanted to see and do as much as we could on our little getaway and had planned activities all day. We finally realized though that this was meant to be a vacation for us!
Take it from someone with experience; any mother/daughter day on Seven Seas Lagoon is best started at Senses Spa! Even though my mom and I utilized the ‘adult’ services, mother/daughter duos consisting of tiny tots won’t be excluded from the blissful pampering! Kids’ treatments- like manicures and pedicures- are part of the services offered at Senses, and relaxing into the day together is the best way to start it off!
Afternoon Tea
Before we leave The Grand Floridian, there is one more stop we simply must make! Head into the grandiose lobby and make your way to Garden View Tea room for the next stop on our mother/daughter tour! Located among the pristinely captured ambiance that celebrates age-old traditions, enjoying a lovely afternoon tea here is customizable to fit your schedule!
Continuously from 12:00pm-4:00pm daily, you and your daughter can sip on a piping hot cup of Afternoon Tea when you please! As if enjoying finger sandwiches and miniature puff pastries below the chandeliers of the Grand Floridian weren’t enough to make the two of you feel fancy, the presentation of warm scones will have you feeling like Queen Elizabeth by the time your cup is drained!
Out-of-This-World Poolside Games
Cooling off from the hot Florida sun is a welcome afternoon activity after long hours in the Parks…and after a long day of relaxation! As much as my mom and I enjoy kicking our feet up, things got interesting when she challenged me to a poolside game at The Contemporary!
Hop on the monorail from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort for the next chapter in your mother/daughter adventure- except this time, prepare to face-off! I love playing ping pong at the Contemporary for 2 reasons: the tables are never occupied, and the views of the sweeping forestry and meandering boats on Bay Lake are unparalleled. Don’t make the mistake my mother did though…only be the challenger if you think you can win!
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

TIP: If your child is not over the age of 21, head to Trader Sam’s before 8:00pm and she will be allowed access to the child-friendly bar, non-alcoholic beverages, and small plates too!
After the competitive adrenaline has left your bloodstreams, it’s time to begin the picture-perfect finale to your mother/daughter day. If both mother and daughter have celebrated their respective 21st birthdays like my mother and I have, this is the perfect opportunity to experience Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto!
The lively tiki-themed bar is located in the lobby of Disney’s Polynesian Village and is the perfect place to stop in for an eclectic drink before your final activity. It’s so much fun to experience the antics and atmosphere of Trader Sam’s with just your mother and, who knows, you just might find that you share the same taste in drinks!
After Trader Sam’s, it’s time to start winding down this epic mother/daughter day. All of that running around Seven Seas Lagoon sure tuckered me out, and the best remedy for tired feet is a Dole Whip on the Polynesian beach! Grab one of the famous pineapple soft serve cups from the outdoor window before you stake out your spot on the beach for the evening’s performance of Happily Ever After!
There isn’t a better spot to see the fireworks than from the Polynesian, and that big flavor burst of pineapple Dole Whip will be complimented wonderfully by the big bursts of light over Cinderella Castle. Have you experienced any of these activities with your mother or daughter? If so, leave me a comment and let me know how you enjoyed it!
