5 Reasons Why We’re Already Excited for Easter at Walt Disney World
Its only a few months before Easter (April 21st) and if you can manage the heavier crowds at the theme parks then we here at MickeyBlog think you’ll love all of the fantastic seasonal touches Disney adds in during this special time of year. To put you in the mood we thought we’d share a quick glimpse of some of the reasons why we love an Easter visit to Walt Disney World.
1. Meeting Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny- Magic Kingdom
If you love to meet the characters at Walt Disney World than we have a special Easter Meet and Greet that you won’t want to miss! Each year Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny can be seen dressed up in their Easter finery and will be on hand to pose for photos and meet Easter visitors at the Town Square in Magic Kingdom. We expect dates and times to be announced shortly and will be sure to keep you posted.
2. Church Services – Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Being at Disney World for Easter doesn’t mean having to miss out on Easter Sunday church services. Disney has you covered! Church services are typically held in the Fantasia Ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Last year the schedule was as follows:
- Catholic Mass – 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
- Protestant Service – 9:15 a.m.
Again we’ll let you know this year’s schedule when it is posted. But it nice to have the reassurance that you can still enjoy the religious element of Easter even while at the theme parks.
3. Egg-stravaganza – Epcot
Hands down one of our favorite things to do at Walt Disney World during Easter, this family friend scavenger hunt is typically offered as part of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival each year. Guests participating Egg-stravaganza will search for special hidden “eggs” themed after Disney characters. You are given a map and stickers and you once you’ve found the hidden eggs you post it on your map. The sets can be purchased at retail outlets throughout the park. Last year they were $5.99. Once you’ve added all the stickers to the Map you can return it to a designated location for a special Easter surprise!
4. Azalia Trail Maids- Magic Kingdom
On Easter, Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade typically takes place twice during the day. They also offer a special Easter-themed pre-parade that features the beautiful Azalea Trail Maids. This colorful troupe is made up of high school aged children from Mobile Alabama who done Easter-inspired Antebellum gowns. It is a beautiful sight that is simply not-to-be-missed.
5. Easter Treats Galore – Walt Disney World
Let’s be honest. It wouldn’t be a trip to Walt Disney World without special Easter treats and the theme parks, resorts and restaurants are positively brimming. During the holiday you’ll find a delicious range of Easter treats from chocolate to cupcakes to everything in between. Several Disney World and Disney Springs eateries will run special Easter-themed Sunday brunch specials while several of Disney’s Deluxe resorts will have giant chocolate egg easter displays for you to visit! Many of the gift shops will also carry special Easter baskets eliminating the need to bring one with you during your stay!
These are just some of the reasons why we love an Easter visit to Walt Disney World. We expect Disney to begin releasing details of this year’s festivities in the weeks ahead so keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest news and updates.
