Spotlight: The Storybook Land Canal Boats in Disneyland Park
Since it’s opening in 1956, the Storybook Land Canal Boats have been a staple attraction in Disneyland Park. This classic boat ride takes guests on a journey through Storybook Land where they can tour through the fantasy worlds of popular Disney films.
The Storybook Land Canal Boats were inspired by Walt Disney’s love for “miniatures”. Each building throughout the attraction is sized down to a one-inch to one-foot scale. For example, six-inch doors with working quarter-inch hinges adorn the quarters of popular Disney characters homes.
The Home of the Three Little Pigs
Guests will spot the homes of the Three Little Pigs (Fifer, Fiddler and Practical) during their journey through Storybook Land. Their little houses- one of straw, one of sticks, and one of bricks- are complete with their own tiny mailboxes. Guests can soak in the details as you hear the pigs singing, “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf”.
Alice’s Village
Next is the village from Alice in Wonderland. A running water wheel, cottage, rabbit hole, and church are strewn across the hillside. The church stands tall and has been fitted with authentic, imported stained glass windows. This was something Walt himself insisted on. The same glass remains in the church windows today.
London Park
Further down the canal, guests will come upon London Park, perhaps where the Darling children play. Here you will spot a golden statue featuring Peter Pan in the center of miniature benches and walkways. Don’t miss London Park at night when it twinkles with sparkling lights.
Cinderella’s Castle
Sail past the Sultan’s Palace in Agrabah, through the Cave of Wonders and you’ll find Cinderella’s Castle high upon the hilltop. The 24-karat gold turrets and finials sparkle in the sunlight and bring the castle to life. In the evening, the windows glow bright- perhaps it’s time for a ball?
Arendelle
The newest addition to Storybook Land- Ardendelle! Elsa’s ice palace sits upon the mountain top, overlooking the town where she and her sister Anna grew up. Around the corner (as you pass Pinocchio’s village) you’ll also be able to sneak a peek at Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna.
These are just some of the worlds that come to life here at the Storybook Land Canal Boats. Guests can discover the worlds of other Disney favorites such as Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride (The Wind in the Willows), and Snow White.
