Celebrate the 66th Anniversary of Peter Pan at Walt Disney World!
It’s been 66 years since Peter took Wendy on that idyllic flight to Neverland. Although I came into the world many years after the films’ release, watching the Darling children skim the tops of the London skyscrapers on their way to a magical dreamland is a timeless experience that never ages! The famous songs, comical pirates, and magical pixie dust may have debuted in 1953, but their legacy and popularity are alive and stronger than ever before at Walt Disney World Resort! Here is how you can celebrate Peter Pan on the film’s 66th anniversary!
UK Pavilion
Mary Poppins and Alice (of the Wonderland variety) make their regularly scheduled guest visits daily at the UK Pavilion in Epcot. What you might not know though, is that you just might happen upon the boy who refuses to grow up the next time you’re visiting Epcot!
Peter Pan has recently taken to touring the UK Pavilion, but of course you’ll have to catch the free-spirited redhead on his own schedule. If you’re a Peter Pan fan, this is the place you want to meet him because he is free-roaming, and freely laughing and joking with any and every guest he comes in contact with!
Town Square Theater
Guests wanting to learn about the ways of the pixies will have to head to Pixie Hollow to meet up with Tinkerbell. We’re in luck, because she only has the ability to speak in the pixie world…and that means we get to travel there to visit her! Shrink down to pixie size in this fun and whimsical meet-and-greet located in Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom.
Festival of Fantasy
Captain Hook is too busy ransacking the Lost Boys’ hideout to bother making small talk with us. Luckily for us, Peter and Wendy are sailing right down the middle of Main Street USA daily in Festival of Fantasy…and Hook is on their tails!
The scurvy pirate is playing hide-and-seek, strategically trying to keep his below-deck presence a secret to the Lost Boys above- but that doesn’t mean he’s hidden from our watchful eyes! Catch him daily in Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom.
Peter Pan’s Flight
A whopping 2 years after its release Flight of Passage is the hottest and hardest Fastpass+ reservation to secure. Peter Pan’s Flight has been in operation since opening day of Magic Kingdom in 1971…and isn’t too much easier to ride than Flight of Passage! The attraction wait time rarely dips below 90 minutes for good reason: it’s a true classic!
Peter Pan’s Flight invites the whole family to board a flying pirate ship; course set to Neverland! Flying over the colorfully imaginative world of Neverland, encountering pirate caves and mermaid lagoons may be the goal of the journey, but soaring over a miniaturized London at midnight is the scene that I’ll never forget…even if I grow up!
Happily Ever After
The ideal finale to any Magic Kingdom day is, of course, securing prime viewing for “Happily Ever After”– the nighttime fireworks spectacular where the story really comes alive! Peter Pan is far from the only film featured during the length of the 18-minute show…but it is the most memorable! Orchestrated and choreographed in perfect sync, Tinkerbell makes her flight over Magic Kingdom to the classic “You Can Fly!” as massive burst of fireworks light up the surrounding sky.
TIP: Watch the show from the Tomorrowland bridge for the best view of Tinkerbell’s flight!
